Does whisky count as beer?

Managed to get some photos of the cabinet after the yellow enamel was sprayed on. Boy oh boy is it looking fantastic!

Base

Here's the base of the cabinet all nice and yellow, there's the coin door slot in the centre and the top right has the switch control for the sound system, including volume and power.

Sides

The sides, nicely routed and sprayed smooooth as a baby's behind. We ran into some issues spraying the logo with the perspex due to leaking of paint underneath, so rather than doing that way we're painting a white underbase and then cutting out sticky vinyl in black and attaching that to the sides.

Coin Door

You can see the coin door and the controls for the speakers and the metal kick plate at the base for a little bit of added effect.

Speakers

The speaker/marquee area where the 6 inch sony xplod speakers mount nicely. The whole top area simply slides into place.

Base

I'm really really happy with the monitor bevel, it's turned out superb and will look awesome once in place. We were careful to make sure there was no light leakage through the cabinet as we built it so we wouldn't get any odd shadows or reflections on the screen.

Base

And lastly here's the back view of the base of the cabinet. We left the back open for easy access and also for ventillation. It means no worries about making changes internally as i'd rather just reach in the back then have to pull it all apart.

Yellow Brick Road

Saturday, 19th February 2005 at 6:30PM (3012 days ago)

Been a little while since my last update, things have been pretty busy here. I'm happy to say that the cabinet is about 99% done, the yellow paint was sprayed on yesterday and all that's left to do is slap the logo on the sides and wire the sucker up.

Look at that bevel!

The bevel for the screen is looking fantastic, the photo is looking at it upside down the area at the top goes at the bottom. The coin door and mech are mounted and the edges of the cabinet are routed to a nice 180 degree finish, super smooth.

Coin door and box

So that's my update for now, i'll post more photos as soon as I get around to taking them. The cabinet will be back in Sydney by the end of March in a completely finished state, can't wait! And now back to your regular program.

Stool

Wednesday, 2nd February 2005 at 9:59AM (3029 days ago)

Almost finished with the cabinet, the coin mech is mounted, the door for the coin mech is in, the screen cover is on and there's not much more to do! I picked up some nifty little gas lift stools last night to go with the cabinet, I won them in an eBay auction, brand new and very funky.

funky!

They're actually really comfortable to sit on and should make great additions to the cabinet! The guy I bought them from imports huge crates of these things directly from china, he lives above his warehouse so when we showed up to collect the stools here was this little chinese guy in his PJ's, too funny.

funky!

On another note, if anyone is in need of a digital camera, i've got a Canon PowerShot S50 in mint condition, it's been used about 3 times, has 2 batteries, 2 memory cards (512MB + 32MB) and an original canon carry case, shoot me an email if you're interested.
