Happ Happ Happy

I'm surprised how quickly my joysticks took to arrive. I ordered them on Thursday and they got through customs yesterday and arrived in the afternoon. Talk about timing!

New Happ Competition Joystick(s)

The joysticks feel really good, they're a little bit heavier weighted than the J-Stick's that i've got, but they are really smooth to use. They've got a spring action inside that always returns the joystick to the centre when you let go.

Side by side

The happ joysticks are a little bit taller than the J-Stick's, but what I like is the fact that the joystick handle is one piece rather than the ball screwed ontop of the metal like the J-Stick, it's a lot more comfortable to use and it looks really nice in the black too.

Microswitches

The happ joystick is an 8-way only and uses separate microswitches, whereas the J-stick uses a leaf switch type system and is rotatable between 4 and 8 way via the resistor plate on the base. The good thing about the happ is that you can replace the microswitches if anything goes belly up. Microswitches are very inexpensive, about $1 each.

The plans are almost complete and i'm hoping to send them off this week or early next.

I guess, with all the parts you replaced you could allmost build a second machine.

I'd be very, very careful who you talk to about that, Arie. Because the machine which is built from unloved parts is dangerous. And this button-down, Oxford-cloth psycho might just snap, and then stalk from office to office with an Armalite AR-10 carbine gas-powered semi-automatic weapon, pumping round after round into colleagues and co-workers. This might be someone you've known for years. Someone very, very close to you.

The interesting thing is that this comment did not start out as a dodgy reference to Fight Club. It was something more sensible, but I got carried away, it seems... Sigh.

Yes, BUT! What you are saying is that the old parts weren't loved in the first place. I honestly can't believe Jez would've bought the parts in the first place if he'd thought they were lovely. So they were loved, but got replaced.

Mm on second thought, that could be even more dangerous; parts feeling rejected.

This comment wouldn't even have existed if it wasn't for Ian's psycho one. See what you have unleashed?
