After about 20 hours worth of work over the weekend the arcade cabinet is almost complete! It's finally standing upright and much taller than me :)

speaker box

That's the speaker box right there, well the starting of it at least. We've built the cabinet so that the speaker box can simply slide into the front. The whole cabinet is really easy to assemble, you only need a phillips head screwdriver.

side

We placed the frame we built as well as the speaker box against the sides to make sure when it was all put together it would stay together.

frame

The frame was the most important piece, the innards as well as the monitor rely on the frame. Using a mixture of MDF and Pine we created an incredibly strong frame. The frame is so strong that I can stand on the monitor shelf. As my monitor weighs about 34 kilograms (that's 75 pounds for you weirdo's) I needed the shelf to be super strong.

almost there!

The castor wheels were a very cool addition which meant that the whole thing could move around really easily. I was concerned that the cabinet would move whilst it's being played, but the front two lockable castors as very strong and keep it nice and rigid.

almost there!

So that's the cabinet in it's current state. We're nearlly there, just need to clean up the edges, finish the monitor frame sand the whole thing down, give it a good undercoat and then paint it with SegPub yellow enamel :)

I'll be posting more detailed stuff about the whole process once i'm actually done, but this should suffice for now :)

Oh. My. Gawd. It looks great. Are you going to post up scale drawings and plans so I can build one, too?
