How can we waste your time?

Can someone please explain to me why companies think that having call centres offshore can save them money? It takes 10 times as long to deal with these call centres as the people can hardly speak english, let alone understand what you are saying.

Ringing Apple just now I get transferred to a call centre in India. As per usual I have to repeat and spell my name at least 5 times. Why Apple, why have you sunk to this new low?!?!?!?

I believe it's due to contractual obligations re: 'iNdia'...

In the US Apple doesn't ship support calls to India... well if they do, they have a lovely english (u.s.) speaking staff.

They do that because it is cheaper that way. Now they can make even more money selling you every new version of the iPod they can think of.
