2.2 Hours

Today was my 4th flight in the R22! I'm up to a total flying time of 2.2 hours now. Not much but i'm getting there!

Today we flew out towards Prospect and around that area doing turns and flying at various altitudes and speeds. I'm really starting to get the hang of the R22, it's a bit touch and go at times, but otherwise great.

I'm doing another flight next Friday which i'm looking forward to. I've sent off all the paperwork to the government so they can run their background checks on me and whatnot so I can get issued with my students licence.

What's the process / progression like to go solo in a helicopter? For some reason I always thought you needed a plane licence first, but I don't see why you would.

I suppose I could just google it.. :)

You need 20 hours before you can go solo, and 50 before i'll get my private licence.

You can do a fixed wing licence first and then convert to heli, but I prefer helicopters than planes :)
